More Misinformation from CN
Canadian National Railway (CN) has consistently denied any participation in the construction and operation of the newly-constructed industrial rail yard just east of Edmonton. Based on information we have recently received through an access to information request under Alberta’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP Act), CN in fact signed an application for a development permit to build the rail yard submitted to the County of Strathcona on March 31, 2010. This is in addition to the lease CN has issued to Cando Contracting Ltd. for the rail yard to be built on CN-owned land. As well, CN has been involved with several aspects of construction, including the switches between the rail yard siding and the CN mainline. And yesterday, we saw CN staff blowing and sweeping snow off the south switch between the yard siding and the mainline. It is obvious that CN is an integral partner in the construction and operation of this rail yard along with Cando Contracting Ltd. and Imperial Oil. We will continue to carefully study the 214 FOIP Act records received, as local residents vow to get this rail yard shut down.
