Railway Noise and Vibration Goes to Court
Check out this latest Rail and Reason blog on the Quayside Community of New Westminster, B.C., continuing their battle against unreasonable noise and vibration from Canadian National Railway (CN), Canadian Pacific Railway (CP), Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) and Southern Railway activities in a nearby rail yard.
Due to the railways’ reluctance to address Quayside residents’ repeated requests to have their noise and vibration concerns addressed, the railways’ refusal to obey a mediated settlement, and the railways’ refusal to obey the Canadian Transportation Agency’s most recent ruling to support the Quayside Community’s concerns, the issue is going to the Federal Court of Appeal on September 20, 2011.
Whatever the outcome of this court case, it will undoubtedly affect the myriad of railway noise and vibration concerns by Canadians across the country. Railroaded congratulates and supports the Quayside Community Board 100% in this landmark challenge.
