More on 46-Car CN Derailment
The Houston Today provides some more details on the February 21, 2012 derailment of 46 Canadian National Railway coal cars near Houston and Smithers, British Columbia.
As the spilled coal and damaged railway cars and rail tracks were being cleared, Transportation Safety Board (TSB) inspectors said it could take up to a year before they finish a full report on the cause of the derailment. However, an investigator says the TSB is already investigating 2 recent derailments in Vanderhoof, B.C. that appear to have the same cause. If these derailments are linked, the TSB will apparently combine them into a single report.
One has to wonder whether the TSB has enough staff to investigate the growing number of derailments and other accidents on CN track.
