Six CN Rail Cars Derail in Decatur

Railroaded CN derailment jan 6 2013 decatur photoSix CN Rail cars derailed January 6, 2013 on a dead end siding north of CN’s Decatur yard, Illinois (Herald and Review).

It appeared to witnesses that the cars rammed through the end of the track, grinding to a halt just yards from East Stella Drive. The cars ended up in a heap and partly toppled down a steep embankment. Four of the CN cars contained soybean oil, one was loaded with limestone and one tanker car was empty.

Only three days earlier on January 3, three cars derailed as a CN Rail train crossed a bridge between Whistler and Pemberton, B. C. (Globe and Mail, Whistler Question). One of the rail cars flipped off the bridge, closing Highway 99 for about two hours.

See this link for many more examples of CN derailments and other accidents.
